Voter Registration

Department Functions

  • Register all qualified Bamberg County citizens to vote.
  • Determine the qualifications of all applicants and assign proper voting precinct and voting districts.
  • Issue new/duplicate voter registration certificates.
  • Certify copies of registration records.
  • Maintain county voter registration records to the State Election Commission.
  • Provide absentee voting services. The office acts as Absentee Precinct for all federal, state and local elections held in the county.
  • Validate signatures from petitions for candidates, political parties and requests for referenda.

At the September 14, 2020 County Council meeting, Bamberg County Council passed an Emergency Ordinance requiring face coverings (masks) in retail and dining establishments in the unincorporated areas of the county effective as a 60-day extension of Emergency Ordinance 2020-04.
