Re:     Vice Chairman Evert Comer Graduates from SC Institute of Government for County Officials at Level II

Bamberg, South Carolina (August 2023) –We are pleased to announce that Bamberg County Council Vice Chairman Evert Comer has graduated (Level II) from the South Carolina Institute of Government Officials. Vice Chairman Comer was presented with a certificate of completion at last week’s annual SC Association of Counties Conference in Isle of Palms.

According to the SC Association of Counties website, “The Institute of Government for County Officials (the Institute) is a training program designed to equip county officials with the tools needed to enhance their skills and abilities to function more effectively in their positions. SCAC provides the Institute in cooperation with the Joseph P. Riley Jr. Center for Livable Communities at the College of Charleston. Clemson University’s Master of Public Administration Program is a sponsor of the Institute.”

To obtain a Level II credential, “County officials must attend 18 hours of instruction composed of any six courses (18 contact hours), and graduates of Level I and participants who are within nine hours (three courses) of graduating from Level I are eligible to earn credit for Level II courses.”

Vice Chairman Comer has represented Bamberg County Council, District 6 since January, 2015 and has served on the following committees: Personnel/Education, Recreation, Health & Welfare/Intergovernmental Relations, and Public Service/County Planning. Mr. Comer is also a family law attorney in Denmark, SC and a former Bamberg County Council Chairman. Comer said he appreciates the opportunity to “continue to learn and grow in his role as a county official” and thanks “the Institute for providing such valuable training to all SC government officials.”
