NOTICE OF ELECTION

City of Bamberg

 

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Bamberg County, will conduct the City of Bamberg Special Election on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

 

Any person wishing to register to vote in this election must do so no later than 30 days prior to the election; Friday, March 4, 2022. For more information about registering to vote, please visit http://scvotes.gov or call 803-245-3028.

 

The following office shall be included in this election:

  • City Council District 3

 

Candidates for office who wish their names to appear on the election ballot must be qualified electors, residing within their respective Districts, and file a Statement of Candidacy at the Bamberg City Hall, 2340 Main Hwy, Bamberg, SC. The filing fee is $50.00 for offices in this election. The filing period begins at noon on Friday, February 18, 2022 and closes at noon on Friday, March 4, 2022. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Voters who are blind, physically handicapped, or unable to read or write are entitled to assistance in casting their ballot. This assistance may be provided by anyone the voter chooses except his employer, an agent of his employer, or an officer or agent of his union. The managers must be notified if assistance is needed.

 

Voters who are unable to enter their polling place due to physical handicap or age may vote in the vehicle which they drove, or were driven in, to the polls. When notified, the Managers will help voters using this curbside voting provision.

 

Registered voters who cannot vote in person may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot. Absentee ballots may be obtained from the Board of Elections and Voter Registration of Bamberg County. You may call 803-245-3028 or send an email to vote@bambergcountysc.gov to inquire about the availability of absentee ballots.

 

At 6:30 p.m. on Election Day the County Election Commission will begin its examination of the absentee ballot return envelopes at the J. Carl Kearse Agricultural Building, 847 Calhoun St., Bamberg, SC 29003.

 

On Thursday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. a hearing to determine the validity of ballots challenged in this election will be held.  This hearing will be held at J. Carl Kearse Agricultural Building, 847 Calhoun St., Bamberg, SC 29003.

 

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the locations designated below. The Managers of election see that each person offering to vote takes the oath that he/she is qualified to vote in this election according to the Constitution of this State and that he/she has not voted before in this election.
