On March 31, 2020, South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control notified Bamberg County Administration that two Bamberg County residents tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The zip codes of the individuals are 29042 and 29038. These are the first known positive cases of COVID-19 in Bamberg County residents, and is the only information that is currently available.

Bamberg County Administration and Emergency Services urges citizens to remain calm, practice social distancing, stay home when sick, and wash their hands frequently. Follow recommendations from SC DHEC, Centers for Disease Control, and other reputable organizations who recommend staying home and only leaving home for essential needs such as to purchase groceries, to attend medical appointments, or to visit the pharmacy. These efforts are important to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
