Bamberg, South Carolina (October 2023) – In a resounding display of community spirit and environmental stewardship, Bamberg County Councilmember Larry Haynes, Keep Bamberg County Beautiful Program Director Alisha Moore, and The Free Gift Baptist Church spearheaded a highly successful litter cleanup event, uniting residents in the shared goal to Keep Bamberg County Beautiful.
The cleanup occurred early Saturday morning, October 21st, 2023, and targeted Farrells Road up Highway 78. The dedicated community group picked up 40 bags of trash, 1 mattress, 1 tire, and a surprising deer head.
Councilmember Larry Haynes emphasized the importance of community involvement in addressing the litter issue. “Our beautiful county deserves to be treated with respect, starting with keeping it clean and litter-free. Today’s group of committed volunteers is a testament to the community’s passion for making Bamberg County a beautiful place to work, live, and play,” Councilmember Haynes stated.
Program Director Alisha Moore, new to Bamberg County, shared, “I am thrilled to see such an enthusiastic response from the community in today’s litter cleanup effort.” As a new member of Bamberg County, I’m confident today’s cleanup is just the beginning of the incredible things that we will achieve working together for the greater good of Bamberg County.”
Volunteers came together armed with gloves, bags, pickup sticks, and a shared determination to make a difference and worked tirelessly to rid Farrells Road of unsightly litter.
