Bamberg, South Carolina (August 2022) - Bamberg County Airport is celebrating South Carolina Aviation Week with a celebration on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. TIME at the Bamberg County Airport located at 709 Airport Road.

S.C. Aviation Week is a statewide celebration of the economic and educational impact of airports and the aviation industry. Occurring August 14-20, 2022, and centered around National Aviation Day and Wilbur Wright’s birthday on August 19, Aviation Week is planned in partnership by South Carolina Aviation Association (SCAA) and South Carolina Aeronautics Commission.

"Bamberg County has worked diligently in the past several years to revitalize the airport," stated Joey Preston, Bamberg County Administrator.

"Capitalizing on multiple grant opportunities, as well as opportunities from the SC Jobs Economic Development Authority, we have completed many airport improvements to include hangar renovations, reduced assessment rate on aircraft to make the county more competitive, improved the facilities and grounds, renovated our fuel farm to sell AVGAS at a very competitive price, and expanded airport services by establishing a partnership with Crosswinds Aviation."

South Carolina has 58 publicly owned, public use airports across the state. The Bamberg County Airport serves South Carolina’s Lowcountry. Airports are generators of economic growth and local development," said Spencer Donaldson, chairman of the Bamberg County Council. He added that he and other elected officials are looking forward to extending radical ‘Bamberg County’ hospitality to all attendees.
